Help eggs caving in day 5
I am using substratless incubation, I am suing the Sim container, I have 6 eggs that are clumped together. IT is day 5 and they are all starting to dimple and cave in. There is condensation on the sides of the container, non on top. Can someone help me figure out what to do?
Re: Help eggs caving in day 5
A couple things first:
Did all the eggs candle as good?
What did you use for a mixture of water and substrate beneath the light diffuser?
Are you covering the egg box with press and seal?
I have not used substrateless but have read that in doing so you can be way over on the amount of water as the eggs will not be in contact with the substrate anyways. Try adding water and press and seal if you are not using it already.

Yes all the eggs candled good
1 part vermiculite to 1 part water by weight
Not sure what press and seal is, I just have the cover on it.

Add more water. Your ratio would be good if the eggs were in direct contact, but substrateless requires more water. If they still continue to dimple, get some Glad Press 'N Seal or saran wrap to place under the lid (seals in moisture).

Thanks for all the advice. I added a little more water and did the saran wrap.
