rat sizes vary about as much as shrimp sizes one mans jumbo is another mans large.
do like shrimp and look at the weight find a rat in the 90-100 gram range and he will be full but not overstuffed

    Hey,

Mediums are perfect for that size of a BP.

Good way to determine proper feeder size is to calculate 10 - 15 % of the BP's body weight.

At 965gram your looking at a feeder between: 96 - 145 grams. which would be a medium rat.

Here is a good size chart for reference (I have it printed off and tapped to the side of one of my racks). LOL

So since hes been on sm rats could that be why hes not really gaining weight?

Ove only had him 3 weeks.and ive just been feedong what his previous owners were.
But i think hes big enough to go to mediums.

Three weeks seems a tad impatient if you ask me (give him a couple of months, that's when you start to really notice the weight gain) but yes, feeding a snake inadequately sized prey will hinder its growth.

Small rats are not grossly too small. but he should be on mediums.

Sometimes all I can get my hands on are small rats so If I have one on mediums I'll give them a small, even though it's smaller than they should have. It's not a big deal.

You wont see much weight gain in 3 weeks anyhow but you should switch him to mediums next feeding.

    Cheers,
    Chris.

How long is he? Generally my rule of thumb is that a BP should have about 500 grams for every foot. :P

I feed my BP rats in the 70-90 gram range, because that is the average size of ASF's, their natural prey.
