I've had one spit a mouse back out, both f/t and live when they got it. I think in some of those cases at least it was because they decided the food item was uncomfortably big. Better to just gauge it well to start with rather than risk damage to the esophagus.

Right when i first got my snake i got a mouse that was just as big as the biggest part of the snake (that is what the petco was feeding it and she gave me one) my snake didn't want to eat that evening so my buddy put his ball python in the feeding box (his snake is about the same size as mine) his snake struck and killed the mouse it took him a while to get it down, we didn't know if he would, my buddy thought about trying to take it away (he almost couldn't get the head down) but after the mouse stiffened up a bit the little snake pushed it on down his throat. It was a big meal, and his snake hasn't eaten in over a week, but they will eat a BIG mouse, i don't know if it is good or bad for them??

Well let me start by saying it is hard to feed a food item that is too big. If you think that it is too big for your snake, and he/she has already eatten it. Then, make sure that your enclosure temps around 90 on the warm side and 80 on the cool side. If the temps. are not right your snake will leave you present for you to cleanup after. Now if the temps are good and you still get that present that we all don't want to see in the morning, then yes the food item was too big. When a snake regur. the food item back up, it is very stressful for the snake. If/when this happens, clean the food item from the enclosure, and leave the snake alone for several days to a week. Then try feeding it a smaller food item. But just remeber that never feed them any item that is bigger than the widest part of their body, and you should be just fine. Hope that this help.

Yea Patches left me a half digested liquified rodent in the big enclosure it was horrible and it smelled so bad. I cleaned the tank and it still smelled so i filled it up with water and about a cup of bleach and let it sit for a while and that did the trick. Once i fed Jojo a huge male mouse he was big. I even knocked it out because i was afraid that it would attack and Jojo struck and constricted it. He had a hard time getting it down but i left him alone for a while and he got it down and there was a huge lump in his body. But i say if you have a under tank heater then you should be safe. Jojo lays right on top of it when he eats a large meal. This last time he a full grown mouse and a medium mouse with no problems. I have yet to feed my new BP
