Topic says it all........Oh and also how often do you check weight on your animals?
-
Typically they are weighed in grams. I don't typically weigh mine due to the fact that I don't have a scale. But for document purposes measuring every 3 days after a meal would be terrific. Mine are only weighed at the vets though.

I use a digital food scale (i only use it for the snake, not food...) it goes up to 3 pounds, but like he said i weigh it in grams. You can get a cheap set of scales like that at staples or maybe even walmart... i got them off a friend of mine who couldn't use them anymore, they are not too exspensive if you find the right ones.

I weigh on a postal scale at work (come in on the weekend to do it), then convert the ounces from the scale to grams. Since I don't have any fasting snakes or hatchlings and I'm not trying to get anyone up to breeding size, I figure weighing every month or two is often enough. If I had one that was sick or off feed, I would weigh every week or two, or as needed.

I weigh mine one to 2 days before I feed them. This way I can try to keep track of how much weight they are gaining or not.

I wiegh mine only after they defecate, that way they have a pretty much empty belly, and I can be sure that isn't just "rat" weight. It's funny when you weigh them a couple days after they eat they weigh, say, 416 grams and then they defecated 4 days later and now weigh 372 grams, lol... Anyway, I use a postal scale that measures in grams and pounds/ounces. 448 grams=one pound (in case you can't find a scale that measures in grams). :) You can order one online from www.eBay.com, or this is where I bought mine: http://www.americanweigh.com/Merchan...egory_Code=PS1
Good luck! :)

When I weighed mine, I also used a postal scale, but I also place the snake in a plastic container similar to what you might get Cool Whip or something similar in. Weigh the container empty, and either set that as a tare weight on the scale (if you have a digital), or subtract that weight from the total weight when you weigh the snake in the container.
The container helps keep the snake safely centered over the scale while weighing. Obviously, a larger snake will require a larger container, but the principle is the same. I don't know about anyone else's BP's, but mine tend to like to go exploring when I have them out of their enclosures. They won't lie still, nicely curled up on a scale for me to weigh them unless I confine them in a way that keeps them from crawling away to check out what's going on elsewhere.

That's exactly how I do it, Hoomi. Great Arizonan's think alike. :D

On a kitchen-scale. Cheetah still in the small cup and Monty in a box in the scale. It goes to 5 kilo (5000 grams).

Damn Naara, Monty beefed up. So did Cheetah, but Monty definitely grew.
