Shipping HUGE snakes

I was wondering, how do people ship big snakes like burmese pythons and reticulated pythons, (full grown)?
How do you give them heat, ect.It seems there's not much of it going on.:confusd:

Well you pretty much can't ship Burms anymore due to the ban

as for Retics I would guess that it is done similarly to the way it is with smaller snakes just with bigger/reinforced boxes, though I don't have any experience with this. My guess is that it is very rare, as it isn't practical in any way lol

i do believe in march they passed a ban on bringing/shipping burmese and yellow anacondas accross state lines.

Yeah, the the local vivarium someone actually donated their albino burmese because they were moving..:(

I was going to mention this, personally, unless it was a very rare and valuable snake, I'd just buy it as a baby because the shipping would be incredibly high.
I would assume it's the same way you transport any other large animal, in a crate.

The few times we had to ship big constrictors, it was airport-to-airport, and the snakes were crated in styrofoam-lined, wooden shipping boxes built specifically for those purposes to IATA standards. Expensive endeavor.

you can ship retics up to 10 feet without too much problems with boxing. I've seen people shipping 20 lb 7ft BCI as well. It's a little more expensive in the end, but if thats what the customer wants thats what they get. . .

Note on the donated burm - ironically most zoological institutes will NOT take in a full size burm. a previous co worker of mine had to pay a $2,000 homing fee to the local zoo to get them to take in her 13 ft Albino Burmese!

So the first time I read that I thought "So they took a few steps and the box just fell apart because the snake was so heavy." :)

And how would they keep the snake warm? Or does it need it?
