    Need help with choosing reptiles!!
Okay guys so this is my first time posting in this website and im goin give a little background about myslef... ive owned reptiles for the past 3 years and ive had many lizards. Well i wanted to get a snake and my uncle is a professional snake breeder of venomous and non-venomous. or Well i fell in love with ball pythons. I want a snake so bad but my mom is not sat all liking the idea of it eating rats because shes seen the 12foot burmese my uncles had eat giant rats and my mom just feels bad for the mouse rats whatever. she wont go with frozen rats eaither so i was wondering are there any alternatives rather than mice to feed to ball pythons or are there any snakes the are calm and tame as most ball pythons that wont eat rats?

    Thanks in Advance!:)

a garter snake, can eat things like fish, frogs etc... look into it :)

They don't have to have a rodent diet, I believe.

Water snakes. I had a few babies that I kept for a summer that would eat frogs, and rosy red minnows.
Would she be ok with you only getting a frozen rat once a week from petco or petsmart. The rat would not be in the freezer it would be gone in a day.

Eastern Hognose eat frogs and other small amphibians.

There are egg eating snakes but the type of eggs needed can be very hard to find.

Your mom needs to get over it. You are not going to find a good snake that doesn't feed on rodents. They are by far the easiest food source to use.

No other food is available for snakes. Most of use feed one a week for young BP. Adults every 10 to 14 days.

You need to do allot of research so you know what your wanting to get into.

Also you won't be feeding large rats for a good while. It will be feeding on baby and juveniles rats or mice that are pretty small.
