New baby ball... too active?

Hey guys, I had an intro thread, but I picked up my first baby ball python on Sunday. During the day he sleeps as I imagine is normal, but last night I heard him cruisin' around (same with Sunday night) so I woke up and secretly watched him. He tried to get out of his enclosure for probably 45 minutes out of an hour. He was climbing on top of the thermometer/hydrometers I have stuck to the enclosure walls and kept looking for an exit at the top. The temps and humidity are good (I think) at 90°/42% on the warm side and 81°/56% on the cold side so that shouldn't be stressing him out, he also has two hides. I did choose him at my breeders because he was very active and didn't seem to be afraid of anything. Is he just really adventurous? I don't want to take him out because I don't want to stress him out. Let me know your input, thanks in advance :)

if it was at night then it was completely normal. Mine are very active between 2AM and 3AM

it is only an issue if it is during the day.

Well, they are nocturnal and that's usually when they will explore. He could also be hungry so you might have a pretty good chance of a first feed come feeding day.

My ball always does this at night time, he is always checking for little ways out at the top, he goes on the hygrometer which is a sucker and it makes a screeching noise when he goes on it... and it always wakes me up :/

Mine does the same thing at around 6 or 7 pm she gets very active moving around and raising her head to the top of the enclosure and stuff. And then in the morning when I go to turn the light on she is in her hiding place asleep. I got one last week though and this one seems to have her days and nights mixed up for some reason.

Okay good, he seems to come out and see whats going on at about 10 PM, then hides again until 12-3AM.

Yeah that's what I was thinking, I almost thawed out a mouse for him but decided to just wait haha.

Weird! Maybe she's a diurnal BP?! Just kidding haha.

Also, I was wondering, since he seems to like climbing a lot, should I get him something else to climb on? I saw another user that made loops coming from the top of the cage but can't remember where I saw this, could anyone link me or provide some sort of instructions? I'm just not sure what to use to make the loops. Thanks for the responses!

Also, one more question, can I feed him tonight? I would like to start a feeding schedule on a week day because I am not home often on weekends (vacations and going home which is 5 hours away). Wednesdays are also the days I don't really do anything after work haha. I just don't know if it's too soon to start feeding since he has only been with me since Sunday. Thanks!

You can try. Waiting for a week is just a general suggestion, but it comes down to the individual snake. Some snakes will eat right from day 1, and some need a little more time...

Ahh I see, okay, sounds good. I will wait until he is out and about flicking his tongue, then I will dangle one in there. If he doesn't take it I will just wait a few more days. Thanks for the input!

Yeah you can try feeding him but don't be discouraged if he doesn't eat right away.

Do yourself a favor and toss those stick on thermometers and hygrometers in the garbage and get some digital thermometers.
