Does anyone here do skeleton articulation?

Skeleton articulation is the art of re-assembling animal skeletons, whether it's human or dog, squirrel or bear. This hobby fascinates me, and I have always loved skeletal structures.

If anyone here does this, I would love to ask you some questions.

Like taxidermy lol?

That is a rare skill. I don't either but find it incredibly interesting. I suspect you may have to go farther a field and actually hunt one down.... They have 'contests' for it perhaps you could fine one and seek out the organizers they are likely to help or point in the right direction. Just guessing.

There's someone on another site that does that. It's a side form of taxidermy I suppose, but articulating skeletons is different.

Most folks that I've talked to taught themselves mostly, just getting the beetles to clean the bones and then going on the fly. I'm certain that getting tips from folks who know how to do it would be way better.

Its pretty common on a lot of the fish forums, might want to check around there, maybe MFK.

I know Bichir owners do it a lot cuz its cool lol

I do a little on my own, but I don't feel skilled enough to advise on it. Mostly just nice roadkill that I'm able to clean up and put together. If you're able to find a group or information I'd be interested as well, I'm pretty much self taught from a combination of curiosity and time to kill

Skulls unlimited does a lot of that.
You could go on their website and get their number maybe you could pick their brains on the matter.

I did taxidermy for 5 years but never got into resembling skeletons. That'd be wicked time consuming and i intricate but really cool.
Reassembled snake skeletons are my favorite. Can you imagine gluing all of those ribs? Lol

I do it as a curiosity. Its harder since my husband has been in the military. A lot of times I would focus on jest sections instead of the whole skeleton. Mostly I've done cows and horses but have been brought a few bear and a couple of bobcats by hunters that wanted skulls usually. I used beatles to clean the bones and they were pretty fast. Did not smell to great. For parts like the skulls there is great sealents that you can dip them in that will help keep the white from yellowing and hold the teeth in.

If you are interested I can track town what type of beetles and the different sealants. Its been a while and I would love to work on it again but its hard when we move A LOT and have a little kiddo to 'help' rearrange all mom's hard work:rolleyes:

I've always wanted to get into taxidermy and SA ever since I read about rogue taxidermy where they make SICK like mythical creatures and stuff. A website called the Bone Room that Pookie found for me (I'm obsessed with skulls and skeletons) got me interested in the SA. I haven't really been able to attempt either yet due to space and finances but in the future I plan to. Sorry I can't help more but good luck and let us know if you learn.
