Im really thinking about getting a Retic...
I am thinking about it very strongly... But what I was wondering is how big of a cage will it need if I get a male? I read that males average at 12-14 feet, while females gets up to 18+ feet. I plan on buying as a hatchling too, so I may go ahead and get the adult sized cage and modify it to where I can block off the cage to where its big enough for him, and has he grows give him more space in the cage.. If that makes any sense to yall. I have had some past experience with larger species snakes (redtail boas mainly) and I really do think I am ready for a much larger snake. Any help would be appreciated. Oh also, what surface would be easies to clean? I read that retic feces is worse than a horse... haha.

Well most suggest a snakes cage be 2/3 the snakes length long and 1/3 the snakes length in width. So a male at the smallest would need a 8ft by 4ft. Most people suggest more room for these large types.

As far as changing the cage size as it grows. I dont know how you could do that in a way that the snake wouldnt break it down. A plastic or pvc cage would be the easiest to clean.

Im sure I could figure out a way to safely modify it, Im pretty handy with that kind of stuff. I may just have to build a good sturdy one out of wood, and line the interior with some some easy to clean like plastic bathroom tile or something like that.
