Big snake ban... Is the Retic an exception?
I was browsing snakes for sale and I seen "Burmese Python- out of stock, banned, Rock python- Out of stock, Banned, Green anaconda-out of stock, banned, yellow anaconda- out of stock, banned, Reticulated python- 200 plus shipping." Does that mean I can really buy a retic online still?!?!

I absolutely love retics but I could see them being banned before a burm. Makes no sense at all!

me too.... because from all I have read a Retic is bigger than a Burm right? And this ban was directed towards very large snakes.

I don't think it was just about big snakes, it was more about potentially invasive and dangerous species as perceived by a few folks with power.

    That is true.

    Denial
green anacondas were not banned. Burmese pythons, north and south african rock pythons and yellow anacondas were put on the lacey act. So far the others have not been added.

Yeah, so far the Retics have skated past. Local laws here in Vermont ban them though - so you gotta make sure they are allowed in your state before you order them. Reputable breeders won't send a snake to a state with laws against them. I believe the punishment here is $500/per foot of snake, or a jail sentence - and the death of the animal in question. Don't quote me on that, its 3am...

Arkansas has pretty much no reptile laws, so long as you do not attempt to sell local wildlife.
