Shedding?
Hi my female pastel has not eaten since i bought her, she went into the blue and shed.
She still refused to eat and a few weeks later she is in the blue again is this normal?

Well first we need a little info. How old and how muxh ddoes your snake weigh.? Whats your husbandry like? Your humidity temps ect? And whats your set up like?

Re: Shedding?
Temps/Humidity?
What are prey size/item are you feeding?
Is it Live or F/T
And im not 100% Positive but im sure constant shedding can be because of something have you checked his body for burns, cuts or even mites?
My Ball sheds every time he gets mites.
Also upload some pictures of your cage and ball

All of the above, we need more info. What are your temps, how do you control heat, what size tank, what size prey/snake, how often do you handle, how old is snake?

Not to derail the thread, but how is your BP "getting" mites multiple times?

Lol after i writing that i noticed it didn't sound to good, i meant when i got my ball i didn't know too much about mites.
So one day i bought a piece of climbing wood of some sort and didn't bake it or do anything any my ball got mites from that and he shed his skin, and i came to the conclusion he must of shed because of the mites because the breeder said he only just shed, sorry for coming across the way i did.

Gotcha. Snake mites don't live in wood, so I'd suggest not buying anything more from that pet store if you think that was the source (would have had to be cross-contaminated).
Sorry all...back to your regularly scheduled programming... :)

What was the time frame in between sheds? As others already asked, how big is the snake? Weight in grams would be the best. If it is an older snake missing a meal can be a regular occurence, but if it is a new 2012 hatchling this would be less likely. Did you feed live or a prekilled prey item?
-
Small snakes usually feed easily. They will not feed if the cannot digest their food (temps too low or too high) if the feel insecure (something might get them) hide boxes changed and or over head cover. Or they are sick. This is why the information has been requested to sort of which one or combination it is.
A photograph would help.
The warm side temps,
cool side temps (surface of the substrate under the hides)
and the ambient air temps (the air circulating inside the enclosure).
Is the snake doing or behaving oddly? (aside from shedding) I have little snakes that shed every other week maybe even every ten days they grow very fast. If you have a scale take the weight of your snakes and if it is little (sub 500 gm) I'd take it weekly while it is not eating. Weight loss and gain are important to gauge how serious what is going on.

The snake is two years old around 400g
she is in a rack tub size 11L
temps hotspot 32'c ambient 24'c
it is winter her now thats why the ambient is low and could be why she is not eating. My concern is that she wants to shed without eating anything between sheds and its only been just over two weeks.
No visible mites.
i have offered live and prekilled rats of all different sizes.
All my other balls are eating just fine that are in the same rack
