Noob T Questions.

Hey everyone, I bought a A. avicularia yesterday and I put it in it's enclosure and it literally hasn't moved from the same spot in 24 hours. Will it move soon? Is it like a snake where it needs time to settle in? Any help would be great. Thanks.http://img.tapatalk.com/ad1cd5f7-b2a3-ddfd.jpg

Every pet needs time to settle in Arachnids are not an exception. Most tarantulas do only sit in one spot all day everyday.

I know it's an arboreal species but will it ever use it's hide I made? Does my set up look decent for a starter

My a. avic doesn't move very often, and always stays at the top of the enclosure. So, it'll probably never use the hide at the bottom, but it's possible.

It's acting normal. They need time to settle in and they do not move much anyways. VERY doubtful it will use the hide at the bottom. Your better off leaning it on its side against the glass or getting a nice long piece of cork bark to
Put vertically. Is there a water dish in there?

So I just fed it today and It ate fine (which was so cool to watch) and I noticed it started to put some webbing on the cricket. This made me realize it has yet to make a web. When will it start building it's web

Once they settle in they will web more, I like to put a lot of fake plants in with my arboreal Ts (especially the avicularia genus) so they can web around it. Mine have taken up to 3-4 weeks before starting to web. In fact, my Trinidad Chevron I've had for MONTHS and he JUST NOW started webbing. I mean, he webbed a little. but out of no where I woke up and he went web crazy over night and his enclosure was just covered lol. I wouldn't worry :)

Thank you very much for the help! I also need to know how I can work on my T's enclosure. There is a background on it and it is falling off. I'm going to take it down. So what is the best way to work on the enclosure?

I think to reduce stress you can temporarily move the T into a smaller enclosure, even just a cup flipped upside down (short term), while you move stuff around or redo the enclosure.
