Which Herpstat do you suggest?
Hello again!
Well this week I will be receiving a sizeable check of 1000$:banana: from singing in a church choir (I know, right?) and I have decided to upgrade the husbandry of my ball pythons. I have 3 from 250g to 1500g. I will be making a rack out of melamine. I was wondering which Herpstat I should get?
If i get one with one probe? I could heat a whole rack because theoretically all tubs will be the same temp? Will a 32qt tub fit all my snakes? where should I buy it? when i get flewxatt, where should I buy it and should I ask for it to be pre-wired?
Which Herpstat do you use and how many snakes do you have?
Sorry about all the questions:P:P
P.S you are by far the most welcoming and nicest forum i have come across so far! thanks!
Re: Which Herpstat do you suggest?
I currently use a Ranco Thermostat to regulate my melamine rack but really want to get into proportional heating (dimming style). I found that there newest product is affordable and handles a decent amount of wattage. The HerpStat Intro, i do not currently own this thermostat but i really would like to pick one up. Read over the details and see if it is right for you. It surprisingly has a lot of features that the larger units have, with the exception of less wattage.
Re: Which Herpstat do you suggest?
I would think about getting a cb 70 rack from someone like reptile basic. 300 dollars shipped with tubs and heat tape installed. this is for a 3 level. all neede is a thermostat. and that depends on if you plan on getting more snakes or not, on which one to get. I like the herpstat 1 and above. they have an added saftey device for totally shutting it down if it senses a failure. with so many fires lately, can't go wrong with adding saftey features, I just purchase a herpstat 4 to replace some of my helix. they just got these back in stock, I wouldn't wait long. you never know when they will be on back order again.
the cb70 is big for a 250 gram snake, might have to keep him in what hes in for a little while and the 500 gram put that one in what you have the 1500 one in. this is as large as you will most likely need for full size females bp.
or sing some more and buy one of these maybe next year...:)

As far as the enclosure size, I would suggest a 41 quart tub for adult pythons. I use the Sterilite 1960 tubs and really like them. :)
