What do you use to read your humidity/temp, what thermostat do you use?
PLEASE show me or link me to what you use to get the best results in reading your temps and humidity, along with what thermostat you use to control your temps. There was one in a sticky thread that at least showed you the humidity and hot/cool temp(s) all in one, but I apparently have gone into full zombie mode (late night..) and can't find it. Anyways, right now I just have one digital probe thermometer on the hot side, and a cheap temp/humidity gauge attached to the glass by a suction cup on the cool side.
I'm trying to pick some experienced brains here on what works.
Thanks

It looks like you're a new user like me. I followed serp merchants advice on the acurite and love it. It makes everything a lot easier and was cheap at about $13 at WalMart. If you go that route, make sure you glue the hot side probe down with a hot glue gun. I found one at Michaels arts and crafts for $4 if you dont have one.

Hopefully the Wal-mart down the road has it in stock.
One question about the probes. Are you supposed to stick them under the aspen substrate on the glass? or right above it, touching the mulch?
Thanks

I've noticed some of the higher-end hygrometers/thermometer combos can be prohibitively expensive, one thing you might try checking out is laboratory sources such as:

There's a bunch of different companies that make for scientific needs, and you can get some good quality equipment for a decent price. Also, I like the ones that have memory storage. Also: cigar shops. Those people are nutty about humidity and temperature in their precious cigar cases.
Thermostats are a bit more varied, but if you look outside the reptile/exotic/pet industry you can find a much wider selection. It may not be perfectly tuned to what you want and require some jury-rigging, depends how much you want to put up with.

Thermostat probe: attached directly to to the UTH
Thermometer probe: attached to the floor of the cage directly over the UTH (you need to know the hottest part of the tank)
