What is up with this rat??

So just wondering what was going on. Dont know a lot about rat genetics. Has a full head of hair but seems to lack a bit on the body. Heres a few pics.

Any idea what it is?

He looks small enough for it to just be molting and his hair could come in normally. Perhaps he has some rex in him(that can make the hair curly or if he's a double rex, the hair could molt out and regrow and sometimes look hairless).

It could be things like mites or skin issues too. How long have you had him, what sort of bedding is he on, what food does he eat? These things may also help answer the question, especially when some of the truly brillient rat people on here chime in.

Looks like a rex or double rex (if he becomes completely bald) as the whiskers are curly. Completely normal rat "morph".

I know hes at least a rex. He does have curly whiskers. He is on pine and they eat mazuri rodent block. Ive had her since she was a pinkie.

I've been told that pine is not really good for rats as it can cause respiratory issues. There is some debate about this and there's quite a bit of controversy on the subject. Just to be safe I personally use aspen, though I have used pine in the past and didn't notice any ill-effects.

I've never had any issues using pine and I've been using it for years. Aspen is just harder for me to get.

So you've never noticed any signs of respiratory issues like increased porphyrin, sneezing, or wheezing?

I'm just curious cuz that's what people have warned me about. Like I said, years ago I used pine all the time but I haven't in a long while so I can't remember if there were any slight issues if I even would have noticed then.

I've been considering switching as pine is cheaper.

I've had quite a few rats like this. Done that lost their hair completely and then it grew back, some just in patches.
