if the clutch is too big for my egg tub with the lid on should i just take the lid off and use press and seal?is it ok for the eggs to be touching the press and seal or the lid?
It's very important that you keep you egg box shut use of press and seal is a personal preference I have never used it.
Either way you need to avoid having the eggs touch the sides or the top whether it's the lid or the press and seal so your options are the following:
- Bigger tub
- Separating the eggs and rearranging them (this need to be considered carefully since there are risks involved)

can i just go without using any type of cover at all since my incubator has a water tray on the bottom for humidity?
No your eggs will dry off and dimpled as you will not be able to keep humidity close to 100%
I use 7 quarts tubs for clutches up to 8/9 eggs when they are stacked on the top of one another I separate the ones on the top very carefully place them next to the others so I can close my egg box.

Yes by proceeding with EXTREME caution, it's risky and I don't advice it if too much time has passed.
Getting eggs separated within the first few hours of them being laid is hard enough but if more time has passed you will cause a tear, therefore you are better of with a larger egg box.
The easiest time to separate eggs is within a few hours of laying and within a few days of hatching, and even than still has it's risks.
