    When do they start looking....big?
First time breeder question here. One of my girls ovulated on 5/31 and she has been in her shed cycle since the middle of last week, just waiting on her to actually shed now. My question is at what point do gravid females starting looking...big? During her ovulation she was huge but anymore she just looks normal sized for her.

This is my first year breeding so I don't know how much my opinion will mean but here it goes.

My girl is I think about to lay a clutch in the next week or so. She doesn't really look big per say but her back half has changed shape. I forget what it's called but their spine gets raised up and their body shape gets more triangle then round. This is from the eggs developing in that area. If you look from the top down she seems a bit wider but not much more than if she needed to poo. It's more her cross section shape that I noticed. When my girl ovulated, I did notice she got very fat and hard. Now she is triangle and squishy. Hope that helps somewhat.

Ok, just was starting to feel a little paranoid like my girls eggs had somehow vaporized into nothing.

Don't worry. My Lois is small and slender, she doesn't do a pre-lay shed, and she always makes me think I imagined her ovulation. And then I find her sitting on eggs and looking like a deflated tire. Some of them never really look big.

I swear....it is seriously rocket science with these critters lol. I mean first of all I'm looking at her and I'm like I know that you ovulated.....but you don't look like a snake with eggs in her. Secondly her ovulation was 19 days ago and she still hasn't completed her shed cycle, all though she is in shed now. This just seems like longer than most of the things I have read.

It seems longer because you are excited!!!! Mines on day 32 after her shed and no eggs still. It's killin me!!!!!!

My female pastel never got big. Never had a pre lay shed never glowed just one day when I had given up hope bam Popped out 5 big eggs.
The only thing that got me thinking she had eggs in her at all was she stopped eating for awhile and never lost weight just stayed the same size till the eggs came out.
