Helping with stuck shed after feeding?
so sam had a little bit of a bad shed, nothing too horrible, the eyecaps came off fine, and his lower half all the way to the tail came off as well. however, right behind his head, and maybe going a third of the way down is still stuck. i tried last night to help him by soaking and using a towel and letting him run thru it (which got most of it off) but i eventually gave up as we stopped making any progress.
Last night was also feeding night, and i didn't really think he would want to eat, but i offered anyways.
My question is, i know you're not supposed to handle for 2 days after feeding, but would that include soaking him and removing the rest of the shed? or can i wait until the 2 days are up and try soaking then? i don't really know if it waiting longer to remove the shed will make it harder or not....
Re: Helping with stuck shed after feeding?
I would just wait 3-4 days, and then let him crawl through a wet towel a few times...

Sterilite tub
1 1/2 to 2 inches of 85 to 88 degree water measured with your thermometer probe.
A towel or hand towel or t-shirt in the water, it helps keep the snake from swimming.
soak 30 minutes and see how easily the shed slides off.
If not so easy then drain water and replenish and soak the snake for another 30 minutes.
By then it will all be off or come off very easily.
Soaking a snake in a closed tub does not stress it out, I've used this method many times back in the day when I had stuck sheds or received snakes with stuck sheds.
For the occasional stuck shed I take one of my snake bags, and soak IT (not the snake!) in hot water. I wring out only so water doesn't drip on the floor, then quickly put snake in the bag, in it's enclosure. In those few second what was once a very hot bag, cools pretty quickly to the point it is safe for the animal.
Presto! The rough texture of snake bag and warm water help them slough off the remainder rather easily 95% of the time
