What kind of boa is this ? (need help)
    Hello,

I have had a ball python for 2 and a half years now. I just got a new 6 months old boa as a present yesterday. I was wondering what kind of boa that is because I read that there are different types, BCCs BCIs etc...

Could someone help me identify this one ?

Also I heard popping was really a bad method to identify the gender of a boa, is that true ? I did that myself for my ball python 2 months after I got it since there are no vets specialized in reptiles where I live in Taiwan, and if I tried to bring my boa to a vet, they'd probably try to kill it or eat it hehe :P

    Thank you !!

That tail kind of looks carmelish. I think the easiest way to sex boas is using the palpation method. It's less invasive and pretty easy to do. All you do is let the animal start gong back into their enclosure, the start at the vent apply a little pressure and feel all the way down the tail. If its a male you will feel a "speed bump" half way down(not at the vent). If its a female it will be smooth all the way down. It's very obvious if you have a male. Also don't freak out if you feel a little pull like cracking knuckles that will happen. Hope this helps. :)

That looks like a Colombian (Common) boa, which is a BCI. I pop all my boas, and have never had any issues. Congrats on the new boa, BTW.

I would guess BCI, but I am no expert. Boa's are awesome though, congrats!
