I must being doing something right : )
Well, after a hard days work, I finished things off last night with another feeding attempt.
She's almost 11 months old, 27+ inches long and was only eating live at the reptile store. I had our first feeding success last week with a F/T mouse.
Last night was another step in the right direction. A strike, a wrap and another mouse down the hatch. I'm going to go with the "third times a charm" approach on this however. Even though I'm very optimistic I have heard of snakes that F/T and then for some reason stop. I'm think if I score 3 in a row I'm on the right track. Once again, some fine coaching with the pre-feed procedures helped, and I actually have a system.
We're still not hooked up to the Herpstat II and have been doing well with the lights and the undersized UTH. I was going to change it all today, but I'm thinking Sunday is better as I don't want to upset digestion with husbandry upgrades that may take a little adjustment time.
Again, and I'm not trying to be a suckup; I'd like to thank Aaron The Serpent Merchant for all his advice. EVERYTHING he's passed along to me has worked!
Also Mike and some others have has good pointers.
My son was sleeping and missed his girl doing her thing last night but he was happy she ate.

Mike, I certainly will, as long as I don't come off like a know it all. My son and I have only been doing this since the 28th of May so I'm far from qualified. However I will certainly weigh in with things that have worked for us and our situation. Obviously the amount of variables involved with regional issues alone can make our setup totally wrong for another.
I'm quite thankful that I've had folks willing to REALLY help. I was a little stressed the more I learned and found my research before hand, while good, was seriously lacking in certain critical areas. Hooking up with a Herpstat II for almost $200 to make an $80 snake "live the good life" to some may seem silly, but when it's a pet or any live thing we are caring for we stick with it until the end. That's just how we operate around here.
I have a few large adult mice left and just purchased the XL's that the store employee said she'd be ready for soon.

Well, sounds like to me you have everything set up right and ready to go! Your dedication to getting the setup right should be applauded, this is the best kind of thing to read from a newbie keeper. "I'm doing everything I need to in order to properly care for my snake, and look, its working!"
Love it! Two thumbs up. I'm sure that 3rd frozen thawed will go right down the hatch.
