    Digesting food
how long would it take a 73 gram baby royal to digest a small mice?

    people all say 24 hours/ 48 hours..
i just want to know the fact lol every time i research for this the answer is always different i fed him yesterday about 10 in the morning, so when can i pick him up and clean out his enclosure?

and also if i was going to double feed my python how would i do this with rat pinkies would i feed him one wait for him to eat it then give him another? or give him another as soon as he swallows the tale

    thanks

Mine are usually good 2-3 days later, but I also don't handle my snakes like most people so theirs. Just for cleaning and maintence and such.

And, I don't know if it's just me, but a rat pink seems a little small for a 73 gram snake. I would use fuzzies, atleast. And when feeding more than one, let him finish eating the first one and give him a few minutes to adjust his jaw and get the first one down, then throw the other one in there.

I don't know if you can get an exact time on the digestion process for your little guy, even knowing his weight and the weight of the prey - probably it's going to depend on some variables like the temp of the enclosure and his own particular physiology. However, the 48-hr rule seems very well supported up here on the forums.

But....I had to briefly move my bp the other day less than 24 hrs after a feed to adjust the therm probe under her warm hide, and nothing catastrophic happened :). I wouldn't go for any extended handling yet, though.

You can choose your prey item by weight in grams instead of "pinky" or "fuzzy," then you'll know you're in the 15%-of-snake-weight ballpark. It's great that he's eating!
