Bought a thermometer...

So, in the midst of preparing for a snake... I got one yesterday. it was prettty expensive in my opinnion, but it looks good quality.
Anyone used merch by Fluker's?? I checked mine it seems to be accurite. Do I really need a thermometer on the cool side of the tank? It just seems unecessary.

BTW it DOES also measure humidity.

i dont have one for the cool side, also you want to make sure if its a combo hygro/thermo then you want to make sure it has a probe and a sensor because the humidty wont measure good if its under substrate

i also got everything for 115 including the baby male royal python
all good quality

What thermometer did you buy? Fluker's makes those analog dial thermometers sold at pet stores if I'm not mistaken, and yes, they are kind of expensive for what they're worth. They do also make digital thermometers, but I still prefer AccuRite.

You do want one both on the warm and cool side. There can be a big difference between the two, it's important that your snake have a reliable heat gradient and spots to choose from.

id also suggest not to get a dial they are very unaccurate get a Digital

I LOL'd... I hear Accurite makes a pretty cheap and accurate thermometer. They sell it at Walmart.

Yes I have a few of the flukers ones. I have found them to be fairly good surprisingly. The battery is a bit of a pain but they only need a new one every couple of years so i guess that is ok. The accuracy of the 6 I have is ok there is one that has become way off (too much dust in it) but the others are in a degree or so and 7%rh not bad by cheap digitals standards.

They only are able to measure the ambient temp and RH you really should also have a probed thermometer in each hide hot and cool. I would suggest this type cheap and disposable when hey go off (and all cheap digitals will)

I would suggest buying 3-5 of them and checking them together and not using any that seem different. (against the flukers will work) unless you know the accuracy of a unit or have a known accurate one (traceable in both cases) this is the only easy way to check them.

I have never found accurites to be accurate. I have owned 3 two returned as they were outside the allowable specs (+/-2ºF and +/-15% RH) and the other sat at 2ºF high and 15% low so I ended up having to keep it. (and give it to my dada to use) The only good experience with them was they did return them with out question.
