Feeder mice attracting wild mice?

Have any of you found that your feeder/breeder mice attract wild mice to the room they are in? I ask because i have several mouse traps in my room in case the feeders get out, and recently have caught 3 wild mice. We don't have an infestation, but i realize the mice would have to already be there, and then possibly be attracted to the smell of the feeders? i guess it could be possible that we do have a small infestation, but I have a clean room with a clean 6-tub rack, no feed on the ground. All my feed is an a 5-gallon bucket. Any comments or ideas?

Rodents have a incredible sense of smell. The food in the bins would be plenty to attract them, imo.

I don't know that wild mice are attracted to domestic mice per se. I'd guess more to the food/water smell. Perhaps the noise of the squeeks ?

Well, we have human food that i would think would smell better than hog feed. But i don't know. Maybe it's a combination. my room is near the kitchen so maybe they are in the kitchen and then hear/smell the feeders?

They are probably just getting in for the food. I can't say if we have mice because one of my cats kills every small creature in our house. I have found three dead shrews because they are poisonous so he can't eat them. I know he eats mice whole so i would never know if he caught one.

What type of wild mice are you catching? The house mouse (Mus musculus) is the exact same species as the domesticated fancy/feeder mice. I have heard of wild house mice being attracted to fancy/feeders and even a couple cases where wild mice have impregnated the domesticated. They are usually smaller and slip through pretty much any type of bar cage, which is why it's recomended to have them in aquariums and/or bins.

Also it doesnt matter what type of food it is the come where there is food.

Not to be off topics but shrews are poisonous? Interesting I never knew That.

I just saw a wild mouse run across my rat room last night. I'll be adding traps to keep it from becoming a problem. I'm sure it's the food.

It's house mouse, i think. grey little bugger? looks the same as my breeders. I pointed out the food because i'm only finding 'em in my room and i would think the kitchen food would be easier to get. or i might just not be seeing them in the kitchen. I've caught 5 total over a 6-month time period. but 3 of those were in the past week.

Fun fact:
Cats don't eat shrews because of glands in the skin that make its flesh taste foul...
