    Possible lay while on vacation
I have a girl that had her pre-lay shed on May 25 and we are leaving June 24 for vacation for the week. I'm pretty sure she will lay while we are gone, and I was wondering what, if anything, I could do to ensure the eggs will be ok. Should I make her a lay box with moist vermiculite? Or do you think she ( and the eggs ) will be ok on their own? I definitely don't want anything to happen to the eggs, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)

They should be ok. People do maternal incubation all the time. Just let the mom do her thing and when you get back you can remove her from her eggs and put them in your incubator. :)

Thanks. I use newspaper as substrate, so I was thinking of changing the substrate for this girl. My man suggested vermiculite, but I thought that might be kinda silly. I also have coconut fiber. I just want to make sure the humidity is perfect if she's gonna be sitting on those eggs for a week :gj:

I'd set up a moist hide with sphagnum...the moss holds moisture well without being too wet. Eggs can dry up pretty quickly...but with any luck, you may just see those eggs a day or so before you leave!
