Discolored Egg

This egg was laid 5/10. It's started with a dark spot 2 days ago. It seems to be spreading. Doesn't seem to be mold. It's just changing color it seems. Vein are still showing where the discoloration is not present.

Any ideas? Is this bad?

It looks wetter than the other eggs. The eggs arent supposed to be wet so maybe its rotting?

Looks like water might be dripping on it. I see spots on the other eggs too, is there a bunch of condensation on the lid of your container?

I have to wipe the lid almost daily due to condensation.

Maybe if you put something under one side of the tub to raise the one side about an inch. This would cause the condensation to roll to the low side and down into the substrate instead of collecting in the middle of the lid and dripping.

Disclaimer: havent tried this, but i think it should work. I think i read this somewhere last season. Maybe someone else can weigh in

I used this method to keep water from dripping on my eggs this past season. I actually used the lid to a pill bottle so one side of the tub was raised up about 0.5in.

Also, if you're using press-n-seal, perhaps try without? Maybe you have good enough humidity retention without it?

I don't use anything but the lid. I tested for 2 months and knew I'd have a lot of humidity. I'll see what I can do. Thanks for the suggestion.

And do you think the egg can recover?

You need to let some of that humidity out slowly. Holes in The top should work. Just a couple will be fine. Or you could leave one of the corners of the top up, if you're using press n seal take that off.

dry the egg, use glad press n seal. keep the incubator close, tilt the box slightly as said above. only check your eggs when needed. put water bottles full with lids in the bottom of the incubator so when you open the door, the temps inside the incubator recovers faster causing less condensation. condensation is cause by a difference in temps. also make sure the seal on the door is good and not letting any cold air in.

will the egg recover, keeping it dry will give it the best shot. i never remove an egg until I know for sure it's bad.

X2 :number1: condensation is your problem. Get some press & seal. The tops of the Tupperware container is the problem.
