Can anyone identify my newest baby?
So, as the title states. Not really sure what, if any morph he might be, i got him at my local pet store right out of the shipping box. he looked so different from the other two normals i just had to get him. the pics dont show it well, but he has a little bit of pink to him, underbelly is clean, and a bit lighter towards the tail.

Even if hes not a morph, i picked a winner. Weirdest BP i've had so far. LOVES climbing his branches, hardly ever stays in his hidey hole unless hes sleeping.

Anyways, tell me what you think =)

He does look like he has that hatchling looking skin before they shed the first time. Could be the reason hes a little pinkish too.
I wouldnt put it past a petshop either, getting hatchlings like that.

That would make him look different for sure... I really hope he does well for you. getting hatchlings started can be difficult. any Good breeder won't sell hatchlings until after their first shed and they have started eating.

I thought the same thing aaron? Well at least that he looked awfully shiny, like right outta the egg shiny lol.

To the OP: Its definetly a normal. What is making you think otherwise?

EDIT: yea Aaron, bc every pet shop i know gets their balls from good breeders lol. NOT!!!

VERY young normal. That pinkish color is very typical for such a young hatchling. The photos aren't great for determining whether he's still in his egg skin, but I agree-it sure looks like it.

I highly recommend you give this little snake a lot more cover--get a very small plastic saucer made for putting under flower pots, and cut a little notch in the side, and put it in there upside-down for him to hide under. It should be barely big enough for him to fit under. If he's really in his egg skin, raise the humidity to 80%, and if it were me, I'd fill that tank up with crumpled newspaper.

His activity level could be due to anxiety--ball pythons, particularly young hatchlings, usually hate open spaces. His climbing may be due to his attempting to leave the are to find somewhere more secure.

Fingers crossed for you that he will eat. If that's an egg skin, offer food one week after he sheds it. If it isn't, wait one week after you brought him home. At least he looks to have good weight for his age, but I still recommend assist feeding any newborn that's more than 3 weeks past its first shed without eating.

So, after reading all your responses, i called the pet store. The guy finally caved and admitted that "sometimes" they get sent hatchlings that haven't shed yet. Offered to let me bring him back, but i think i'm gonna keep him.

Also, he shed last night/early this morning. looks like a regular ball python now, i'm gonna spend the day tryin to find some smaller hides, i'd hate for him to not feel secure.
