    Feeding rat pups by weight
    Hi everyone,
My rat pups I got are way smaller than expected I have over 100 of them (I do have quite a few cornsnakes). Rats are 23-28grams. My ball pythons are roughly 445g to 560g. With cornsnakes I've followed what they call monson plan and it works great for corns basically feeding by weight of mouse and snake, ball pythons well that's another story, i havent found any info on. I really don't want to add more rodents to freezer if not necessary. Long story short everything I've read is going by the thickest part of ball python to measure food well in this case that wont work? Can I double up? Any advise out there or anyone feed by weight? Thanks
Also does anyone feed strictly mice to their ball pythons? I ask because I have been breeding my own mice, tried breeding rats but the cute lil buggers went to pet store to be sold as pets. Hence why I have purchased a bunch of frozen ones

    You can feed by weight.
    weigh the snake (grams).
This seems to be the rule of thumb...If your feeding every 5 days feed a prey item of 10% the body weight of the snake. If feeding once a week feed a prey item 15% the body weight of the snake.

    EDIT
Normally bp owners dont like feeding mice because once that snake gets 1000g+ feeding several mice to a snake that size is annoying when a single rat could have fed it.
reselling a bp thats a mouse eater can reduce your market a little.

    The Serpent Merchant
Some people feed only mice, but it isn't their first choice... as an adult BP will need to east more than a few mice at a time.

You can double up if needed. the general rule as stated above is 15% of the snakes body weight.
