    Quick noob questions
I'm getting my first BP very soon but I have a couple quick questions.

Question 1 ~ First thing I really want to know is - Which is best to put underneath the Reptibark - Newspaper, Paper towles, or Repticarpet?

Question 2 ~ What brand of heat lamp to put on top of the cage do you guys like best?

Questoin 3 ~ Does anyone know a good theremometer to control the UTH with? Give me a link if you can!

    Thanks everyone!

    Welcome to BP.Net!

    1. I use either Unprinted Newspaper or Shredded Aspen

    2. If you need a light to boost ambient temps I would use an Infrared Bulb then partially cover the top of the tanks screen with foil or something to keep the humidity stable. I used Exo-Terra bulbs and found that they were a good product with a decent lifespan. I'd keep your bulb on a thermostat or rheostat also to be able to control your temps better.

    3. You have many options. Personally I use Herpstats, the basic will run you about $100. Ranco and Johnson controls make some in the $80 range also.

    1) I use newspaper.
    2) I don't care for bulbs, period.
    3) You mean THERMOSTAT not thermometer. You need both. Thermometers READ temps, thermoSTATS control temps....

    1. I use newspaper personally. IMO, newspaper/paper, paper towels, and aspen are the only three that should be used. They are easy, sanitary, and safe.

    2. I don't use bulbs. They suck every last drop of humidity out of the tank, but I also use tubs. Tubs are much easier to maintain humidity and temp wise.

    3. I get my thermostats from Reptile Basics. I personally wouldn't waste money on anything cheaper than a Rancho or a Johnson. I really love my Vivarium thermostats from RB, I also have a Rancho and Helix for back ups.

I would urge you to look at going with a tub set up instead of a tank. It will save you time and money in the long run :gj:
