    Breeding Cage Size?
Is the rat breeding cage from reptile basics big enough to have a male and 3 females in it? Also, is it then big enough to be used to grow out litters and if so how many per?

Those are around the same size as 16 qt sterilite bins.

1 male and 3 females won't fit in the RB's rat breeding cage. Lab cages like that would only be able to fit 2 adults max. And I would still think that's a little tight. I would use those types of cages as a maternity cage for individual mamas.

So what should I use for the male breeding cages? The large from big apple herp is slightly larger.

Are you set on lab style cages?
The Big Apple site states that the Large sizes can fit up to 3 adult females.

I personally made my own rat cages out of sterilite bins, but have you thought about using a mixing tub rack? For the numbers you're looking, it sounds like those will work best for you.
Freedom breeder has large rat rack housing that will fit your numbers, but they are expensive.

Not stuck to the lab cages. I do like them. But if I could make some seperate breeder cages and have the lab cages I think I would like the setup!
