Blood python vs. Short tail python

Hi, I've been looking up some information about the blood and short tail python, and was wondering, for those who have them, which ones make overall better pets and are more manageable? I've only handled blood pythons, so it's kind of like a one sided story.

On the topic too, for those who breed them, which are easier to breed?

They are both the same breeding wise. They are willing breeders but need husbandry manipulation.

Im keeping/breeding both Bloods and Borneos.

I would say you would enjoy either one! Borneos in my experience are a bit more mellow but you can certainly get a wide range of personalities across all 3 species. There are certainly more morphs within the Blood Python complex though. The whole "blood pythons are mean" ideas are being debunked as more and more CBB specimens are reproducing.

Borneos tend to stay a bit smaller than Bloods, but again this is variable. Ive heard the Blacks aka Sumatran Short Tails tend to stay smaller but can't comment as I dont keep any.

I have no experience with either but have been told that short tails tend to be calmer than bloods. But that doesnt mean bloods are aggressive at all. Ive held them at shows on 2 different occasions and those bloods were puppy dog tame. I really like black bloods and would like to get one someday. But im pretty sure black bloods are actually a short tail python lol?

Only Bloods are known as Blood Pythons

Borneos are known as Borneo Short Tailed Pythons, but due to them being the only Python species on the island of Borneo they are often called Borneo Pythons.

Blacks are commonly called Black Bloods which is incorrect. They are actually Sumatran Short Tailed Pythons. There is talk of 2 different localities of the Blacks as well. There are both Orange heads and then the black/silver heads. These 2 are seperated my mere altitude I believe therefore there hasnt been any definitive seperation of species.

Most people in the Short Tail community are purists so you wont find a lot of love for hybridization of the 3 species. Taking this into thought though makes seeing people breeding say, 2 Orange head Sumatran Short Tails together make sense.
