Memorial Day...

Today, three good friends, and fellow Marines, will be foremost in my thoughts. They made the ultimate sacrifice. While I came home to waving flags, they came home covered by them, and that is a hard one for me to deal with.

You are not forgotten brothers...Semper Fidelis :salute:

One of my closest friends who was a combat medic died overseas when his vehicle got vaporized by an IED. I will never forget that phone call, and never forget the sacrifice he made.

One of my favorite Bible verses is John 15:13 "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." My heartfelt thanks to all the men and women who have gone downrange, those who made it out alive and those that gave their all in our defense. Vypyrz, thank you for your service and sacrifice; your brothers in arms aren't forgotten and your efforts weren't in vain. Thank you!

That's what this day is all about. Thinking with love of our buddies that didn't come back, not those of us who did.

This is what I'd like to think awaits all our servicemen and servicewomen - our true modern warriors and true modern heroes. To all who serve, we: :salute:

My Grandparents used to call this 'decoration day' so called because families would gather together to decorate the graves of their honored war dead and remember their sacrifices.

2 of my buddies joined the marines right outta highschool last year. Thankfully theyre both safe. In fact theyre at a base in Cali right now, which is pretty cool if you ask me!
