Now that he has eaten..

My BP Ozzy had his first mouse last night and as I posted he had quite a time swallowing it. It seemed really big for him and the fact he went from the side of the tail to consume. He had a rough time took him about 20 mins to get down and several tries.
Anyway he went into his hide and hasn't been out since, not like he has been. He has been very active before eating.
He still pokes his head out of the hole in his hide but won't come out.
Is this normal after eating ???
I know I sound like a first time mother and as for a BP's mother I am so I have questions and am so glad you all are here for help.

It is normal for a bp to be inactive after eating. I have 3 of them... of the 3, only 1 is active all the time regardless of having food in him or not..the other 2 tend to stay in thier hides for sometimes as long as 3 days after eating. So I would not worry. As for you apologizing for asking questions..dont feel bad.. it is great you are asking, thats how you learn, and there is nothing wrong with learning. We are here to share info and ask and answer questions, so please fell free to do so whenever you want.

Yup, that sounds pretty normal. I feed mine and I don't see him for a good two days. If I'm lucky, I catch him comming out for a drink and then it's back to bed. Digesting is a big job, especially for cold blooded animals. If I had to eat all the food I needed for the week in one meal, I'd lay around for awhile myself!
Balls are mellow by nature for the most part. In fact when mine gets good and active I can tell it's time for more food. Then I feed him and he can get back to doing what he loves.............

Phew, thanks I thought maybe he hurt himself trying to get that mouse down.
And if he hurt himself or got sick I would be a wreck.
Hard to realize just how attached you get so darn fast

Well said, steelsack. Same goes over here. After feeding night, it's back to bed on the warm side for two days or so. The day I know I can hold them, is the day I see them out and about (which is USUALLY 48 hours after they've eaten). Perfectly normal.

Same here 3 days of rest then it's up and at'em until the next meal comes along.
