Handling more then once a day?
What do you guys think? Is it ok to handle the same snake more then once a day or do you think that one session is enough?

Just interested I finally got to show pandora off to some family but I have some more coming and want to take her out again.

Dont think that will stress her out to much do you? She was fine with being out and being pet by the fam. Think its ok if I bring her out again when the others get here?

It depends on the snake, and the amount of time you are taking it out to be handled.

I've taken the same snake out multiple times a day and I have never noticed any ill effects. If the snake is eating regularly and doesn't seem stressed by handling then I don't see an issue.

I understand the desire to show off your slithery friends :gj:

Imagine how snakes feel that go to presentations with children, haha. Or at an expo or educational display!

I'd think she'd be fine. If you recognize her as being relaxed, then you're the one who knows her best. And you're not doing this every day, so I wouldn't worry. Just leave her alone the following day and make sure she's behaving normally :gj: Glad your family is willing to meet and pet her. That's awesome.

I have a spinner male that is skitzo, this snake jumps if you breath the wrong way.. But I have noticed that after 3 or 4 days of regular handeling(half hour or so for a few days) he becomes as calm as a kitten.. We have 30 snakes so it's hard to hold each snake for 30 minutes everyday, so when his rotation comes up again in a few days he's back to skitzoville, anyway long and short is, I think it's beneficial to regularly your snakes maybe not 3 times a day but atleast once a day if you have the time. Hope it helps.

Thanks for the advice everyone! I had her out again. She is soooo calm. Letting people pet her and she doesnt even flinch like some snakes will. She is really good with coming out of the cage too.

My corn snake on the other hand. He is a hyper little brat who is extremely friendly hah.

Pandoras turning out to be a girl I can show off to people and is really really calm and has no problems with people being loud or fast movements

:banana::banana::banana: Glad I get such docile snakes :D

I regularly take all of my babies out except when they are in shed and they don't seem to mind at all.

It's definitely an individualistic thing, some LOVE to be held and will take any chance they can to get out of their home, others just hate it :P

As long as you dont make a habit of doing it every day then i dont see a problem with it. Although some of mine would be fine with being taken out all the time lol.
If she seems stressed or stops eating i would stop it but if she seems ok with it then i wouldnt worry about it. :)

    ^^^^^^ This

Seriously, I don't think it's possible to generalize. I have a ball python and a corn snake that both beg nightly to come out and play - and will actually exit their cage on their own when the door is opened. And then there are all the other snakes - they just seem to be happier in their home... Though, I do take them out periodically for play time.

I might be wrong, but it seems you can actually tell the snake's stress level by how relaxed it is in your hands - i.e by how tight or relaxed it's muscles are. Handling my less stressed snakes are like handling a sock full of jello.
