Not eating...Again!

My little hognose that I got about 2 months ago has decided to stop eating again. She refused to eat for the first 3 weeks, until she fell for the pink dipped in tuna. She fed on the tuna scented ones for almost a month, then stopped feeding again, out of the blue.

The way she acts when feeding is nothing like the excited snakes you folks talk about. I have tried feeding with tongs, and she hisses and runs away every time. I have tried feeding in a paper bag, and she wants nothing to do with it. I would like to switch her to unscented pinks, but I can't do that if she won't even eat scented ones.

Suggestions?

Would like to know other peoples imput also! I have a male hog who is like this when i got him he eat 2 pinkies off the bat but now its almost been a month with no sucess :( I will have to try the tuna trick like you tried to see if i can get something into him.. Good luck with your little guy wish i knew more just getting into hogs.

Hmm.. You may want to consider raising your temps. Hognose are accustomed to hotter climates and many keep their hotspot at 90-95 degrees (mine are around 90). I’ve noticed with a few of mine that they will refuse a couple of meals when the ambient temperatures in my home drop a bit and that they feed more aggressively when the temps rise. I also had one small hog recently that was giving me a lot of trouble until she finally “turned on” so to speak and is feeding great for the first time.
