Follicle Size and Ovy

We've been using ultrasound this year on our females. I've tried to gather as much info as possible, but it's just not really out there.

Anyway, just wanted to post what we've found so far...

We have 2 snakes that grew 18mm in follicle size in 3 weeks! :O One was at 16mm on 4-25-12, the other was at 22mm on the same day. On 5-14-12, the first was at 34mm, and the second was at 40mm! :O

I didn't think they got that big before ovy, but I guess they do. Another one we have, during the same time period, went from 23mm to 28mm... She's a lot smaller of a snake, though, so not that there is any definitive info with that. It's just what we found.

Anyway, I'm wondering what size range follicles are when they ovy. The YB (40mm) looks like she's just about to start ovy. The normal (34mm) just finished locking one more time with my Spark. At the rate she grew, she could be at 36mm already...

I'm hoping to draw some conclusions on this about what size follicles are when they ovy. Then I'd like to be able to guess when eggs might arrive, based on follicle size. From that, one might be able to guess within a few weeks of when they would hatch... I always wonder too many things.

A little more info. We have a few girls that, during the same 3 week period, went from the 10mm range to the 12mm range. Not much growth. two of 7 stayed the same (one was 10mm, the other 5-6mm). Just trying to put info out there of what we're seeing.

They average about 44mm when they ovy :gj:
