question about tub size / homemade rack
    Ok
So my husband has pit together a somewhat rack system in my closet for our b.ps as of right now my biggest snake is around350grams .. I had her in a 28 qt tub with two identical hides and water bowl but when spoke to our breder I told him how she's still pretty stressed out and suggested to move her to a smaller sterllite tub so I did she's now in a 16 qt tub but no room for two hides my main question is this I keep hearing/ reading that if in a rack they don't need any hides or just one? Is this even true? I just feel like this 16 qt is just too small for her idk oh also yes we are using flexwat heat tape regulated by a ranco thermostat any advice is much appreciated

The only advice i would have is to ditch the Ranco. My expierience in the past is that they fail eventually and you will save yourself the heartache of losing a pet if it does happen. Herpstat or Helix

many people will only use 1 hide in tubs. basically the tub itself acts like a hide (it is enclosed and secure) but having a hide over the hot spot is always a good idea.

Oh I see yea that is exactly how I have em setup right now and so far my newest girl the one who's been pretty stressed out has ate three times for us so far but is still super duper jumpy when and if you touch her so I was wondering if it could be caused by the whole size of her tub deal and I know her temps are right humidity stays around 60-65 ish hot spot of 90 air temp stays at 80 also as for the ranco I have heard more and more negetives about this thing now only since we bought it uggh iam going to switch ASAP to a herpstat I just wish we didn't even waste the money thanks for the help guys

It doesn't sound like she's stressed to me. Some young ball pythons are just more jumpy than others, but with time and handling they usually grow out of it. Your husbandry sounds fine, and since she's eating I wouldn't worry. I have a 300+ gram bp in a 28qt with two hides doing fine.

See this is what I did have her in the 28 qt with two identical hides water dish but now I have her in our rack system is it ok that she is in the 16 qt w only one hide and water dish this is what I'm kinda confused on

either set up, the 28 or 16 is fine.

only having one hide is fine as long as it is on the hot side.
