    Popping sound
Hey everyone, my new 1400g male I picked up makes a "pop" when he is crawling through my hands. I happens about the middle of his body, is this normal?

Joe, is the sound coming from inside the snake's body? Does it sound like a knuckle cracking?

More than likely it is scales rubbing and popping together. My snakes will do this especially when crawling over something like the arm of the couch or my shoulder. I would double check for RI signs but sound pretty normal to me :)

It sounds to me like it's just stretching. Think of it as an alignment, like we do when we crack our back, neck or what ever. It's common but can and does freak some people out.

But as they grow a lot of snakes are kept in enclosures that are not long enough for them to stretch out. Which can be uncomfortable after a while for any living thing, so when they get the chance they do just that.

I don't know if you've ever stretched a snake before but at times they like to be stretched.

Okay, thanks. I thought it was just something like that but wanted to make sure.

Wow I was just getting ready to post this exact question and all your answers make sooo much sense to me my new spider boy is at 540 grams and a few times when I I was holding him before putting him away did this exact thing sounds like from in his body a poppingsound/ feeling also makes sense cuz bredder claimed to have had em in a shoebox size tub! I just don't see how that was even physically possible I mean he's too long idk though I now have em in a 16 qt tub
