I'm surprised no one else here has posted this one yet, from Excite.com news:

    http://apnews.excite.com/article/200...D7VO0VN00.html

If this is confirmed, it will definitely dampen the debate about whether the Reticulated Python or the Green Anaconda is the biggest snake.

    Wow.

Gotta be skeptical until a photo is produced.

I was thinking the exact thing, Ironhead. I want to see pictures, which of course, they probably can not offer.

and in any case, how could a 49 foot snake actually look like it's 49 feet long in a photo?

I mean, supposively this snake was caught last year, and they are just now bringing it out?
The paper supposively had pictures on the back page, but those pictures have failed to make it onto the net?
    Very, very skeptical............
I think your right Emroul. they probably cant offer a pic. But it would be cool if they did.

i would say that 50 feet is a little uncalled for if it's a joke, though... ya know?
perhaps a joker would've said something a little closer to 40 to make it believable.

But alot of "snake haters" or "non herpers" would probably believe it, if they knew absolutely nothing about snakes at all. There was a girl in my school a long time ago, that HONESTLY thought the snakes in "Anaconda" were real.

Imagine that. I could see how press could blow it out of proportion, and the average "non herper" would never know the difference. Snakes are portrayed as human eating machines by "news people"<<for lack of better words, lol.

    Just my two cents.
