    Issue with UltraTherm
So, I recently moved my bp out of my 20gal tank because I couldn't keep the humidity up and moved him into a 34qt tub.

This is his layout, I have an accu-rite thermometer and an infared thermometer that I use to check heat. My issue is, the accu-rite is holding steady at around 89-91 when my hydrofarm thermostat is held at 96. The infared reads anywhere from 70-82F. When I had the tank set up, the infared and the hydrofarm were in sync together, I just got the accurite so I don't know if its off.

My issue is. Mostly with the UltraTherm I got from ReptileBasics. Does anyone have issues with this with tubs? Or is just my thermometers giving me a whack readings? I know the mat is producing heat to the 96F, but it doesn't seem to be able to get through and into the tub...I have it set up just like the sticky thread on setting up tubs with the probes and all.

Just looking for advice on what to do.

I've not had any issues with Ultratherms. I use them a lot - in fact, they're the only ones I will use now.

How long ago did you do this? It's possible the t-stat, heat pad, and accurite all just have to adjust. It usually takes about 2-3 hours for a heat mat to reach optimal temps when first plugged in.

Your aspen may be too thick as well - hard to tell from the pics. I use disposable cage liners instead of aspen in my tubs.

Accurites, while much much better than the crappy analog dials you find at Petco or somewhere, are not 100% acurate. I have 3 in three different tubs all in the same rack and they are all about a degree apart....

Hope that offers a little insight for you!

I've had the tub running since Friday afternoon.
I scooped out most of the aspen since the ultratherm instructions said a thin layer, so its really thin now, to the point you can see through it pretty much hoping that would help but it didn't make a difference.

Accurites aren't perfect, but I have 7 of them, and they all read within 2 degrees of each other on the temp side, and within 7% on the humidity side.
