    Ball Pythons are "Boring" ???!??
    :rage::rage::rage:

    So I went to the ETHS reptile expo today (picked up a leucistic bearded dragon, you can see pics of her in the beardie section) and was surprised to hear more than once someone bluntly say that Ball Pythons are "Boring"! "Bigger is better" and "Everyone and their mom has one and they are just so dull" were some of the comments I heard...

    I don't necessarily agree with them at all. They come in an amazing spectrum of colors and morph that are usually affordable (yeah, retics get pretty $$$ with some of their designer morphs!) they are pretty much very docile and kind, and what I like is that they get big enough that they can easily be handled yet still be amazed with how big they can get.

    I know it's just a rant and you all probably feel the same way as me...but sometimes, people just need to shut up and realize not everyone feels the same way as you...and instead of acting like a jerk, you could say something nice instead and have a mutual good time discussing herps...even if they aren't your favorite. Sure I am not a fan of retics or burmese (mainly because of size and difficulty handling them...), but I have plenty of cool things to say about them.

    /Rant off. Thanks for listening. (and go check out pictures of Lucy my new beardie!!)

    If one thing will always be true it is that people have opinions. They are entitled to them.

    I (we) are entitled to the opinion that BPs are awesome and gorgeous and yadayada.

    He is entitled to the opinion that BPs are sub-par and an inferior pet/investment.

    I do agree though, he shouldn't be such a jerk about it.

    Opinions are like underwear, don't show them to the public unless you are prepared to be publicly embarrassed..

    Lol love the "macho herpers" out there. "ball pythons are for girls, get a real snake" I'd simply tell him I own small feminine bps, a tiny dog, my trucks not lifted. Bull I'll still smack the crap out of ya wearing a sponge bob shirt and a smile and you won't do a thing about it. :) not advocating violence, but someone has to stick up for our little buddies.

    When someone is being especially obnoxious about something I enjoy, I smile sweetly and say, " Well opinions are like {impolite term for where you go to the bathroom from} everyone has one, but you don't need to share."

    That shuts them up 99 times out of 100. For the remaining 1? You simply shrug and say, "Well, not everyone has something they are compensating for, so I'll stick to my {whatever it is they are badmouthing.}"

    The funny thing those people dont understand is that if it wasnt for the popularity and boom of the ball market there wouldnt be much of a market for other reptiles. The fact that balls dominate the shows and the online classifieds is the reason those shows and classifieds get as much traffic as they do.
