You can probably order F/T rodents online cheaper than you can get them locally. Unfortunately, unless you're buying in bulk, the shipping charges usually make ordering online cost more.

I recently ordered 150 rodents from Layne Labs. Layne Labs definitely isn't the cheapest, but the quality of their animals was not notch. No broken limbs or frost bitten tails like the ones my local pet store orders. Their shipping was also cheaper than most of the competition, so the price per animal can be misleading if it's the only thing you check. The shipping was the same whether I ordered 25 or 150, so buying in bulk definitely helps bring down the price per rodent.

You might want to check locally for someone who breeds their own rodents and will allow you to buy some directly from them. You could even buy them live and check the DIY forum for how to make a CO2 chamber to kill them and freeze them yourself (or they might just offer to sell them to you pre-frozen with some notice.)

    Just some thoughts. =)

The shipping sucks for them because it has to stay frozen. I think this is how most people do it, myself included:

    1.Find the soonest reptile expo

    2.Find the NEXT expo

3.Do the math on how many rats you need to make it between the 2 expos

4.Buy that many rats at the first expo for a dollar a piece

    5.Profit
