    Need help with molt!
My Pseudhapalopus sp. Blue 'Andariel' just molted for the first time since I got her in terrible condition. She was brown, missing a leg and had fungus on her abdomen. Now, she looks STUNNING! However, her old exo is still attached to the poor thing underneath her abdomen. What can I do to help get it off? She's trying to drag it around but cannot fit into her little hide/tunnel. Here is a picture:

    Update:

Using incredibly gentle tugging with tweezers, the molt came off easily. However, the extent of the fungus was revealed. It looks terrible... Worse than I thought. In fact, it has improved since I got her so god knows how bad it was before. If anyone has ANY advice, please help me, she's a sweet little girl and I would hate to lose her :(

It looks like an incredibly large blister. Before I got her, she was kept on sopping wet paper towels in a dark closet.

The Tarantula Keepers Guide has a whole medical section. I don't remember if it covers fungus but it might have something to help. Sorry I can't be more help. I hope everything works out okay.

Ok thank you, I'll check it out.
She's a sweet girl and very hard to come by, I hope this is something that will either heal with proper husbandry or come off with the next molt. I've never come across another person with an adult female, so losing her would be quite a blow. It just sucks that she contracted this before I got her, and there isn't really too much I can do.

It's on pages 216-220. It suggests swabbing the infected area with a 1% gentian violet solution or methylene blue. Also it says nystatin is an antibiotic used to treat fungal infections in humans and should help the T. See your vet for that but there is no database to help you figure out the efficiency or treatment method to use. There are also anecdotal reports of at athlete's foot treatments working as well. Hope this helps.

    Alright great, thanks!
I'll post an update when she either heals/molts or kicks the bucket.

Awesome! Good luck; I really hope things look up for her. It's so hard because there really isn't that much on T medicine.
