I accidentally killed my dear Corn Snake, Quest.
I still feel so terrible about this.. It's been a few weeks now.
Story:
I went to close the door to go to the store.
Something stopped it, like it got jammed.
I tried again. It was making cracking sounds.
I look behind the door.
It was Quest.
I crushed her head.
She was trying to get through the crack of the door.
She somehow escaped her cage.
Her head and eyes filled with blood.
There was nothing I could do.
I held her for 5 minutes or so, she went limp.
But when I went to lay her on the bed, she frantically squirmed.
She tried to get away. She looked like she was in so much pain.
She was still alive.
My boyfriend ended up slicing the back of her neck. He said she died instantly.
I could never forgive myself, but I know she forgives me.
She was my best friend.
I got her for free from some guy giving her away at Petco because his wife didn't want her.
I haven't even had her a year.
If only I looked behind the door the first time, she would have lived.
