Snake Rack Question.

I recently built a rack out of Pine, The shelves were originally going to be Melamine but I ended up going with Precut Kiln Dried Pine Panels.. Someone said Kiln Dried bedding was ok, but I see alot of mixed feelings about it. So I'm curious if shelving made from it could also be dangerous. The 41qt tubs do not have lids so they will be coming into contact with the bottom of each kiln dried pine shelf.

I know there is a huge debate about the toxicity of Pine and ball python snakes. I don't want to restart a debate so I will put it this way.

I wouldn't have the bin open facing any unfinished wood. Your going to face warping and mold due to the humidity in the bins. If you have a finished panel of wood than the type of wood doesn't really matter as there is a barrier between the animal and the material. More than anything it's important that the wood be sealed and finished.

Ok, I was looking into Polycrylic by Minwax.. It is a Water Based Polyurethane. Unless someone can recommend something better.
