    Protecting belly flexxwatt from friction
    Hey guys,

I bought a DIY 7 bin 41qt rack. One thing I noticed is that the heat tape is taped down to the shelf so that the bin runs over the tape.. I am not a fan of this but it is serving me as an interim rack until I can purchase a higher quality ARS or Freedom rack. Do you guys have any tips as to how I can better protect the flexxwatt. I was thinking of buying a roll of adhesive clear laminate that I can cut and stick on but I'm concerned about heat transfer, toxins, etc etc. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? I would greatly appreciate them.

    Cheers,
    Chris.

You could always recess your flexwatt using a belt sander or some other kind of sander.

Just put a strip of aluminum tape on the leading edge of the flexwatt that is the part that takes the most wear.

Espicially if this rack isn't going to be used for years I would say to just be gential and check for wear once a month.

I agree with Aaron. Putting the aluminum tape over that leading edge should be fine.

Another option would be to get very thin wood shims and fix them over the flexwatt so the tub travels up the shims and never actually touches the flexwatt. There's a sticky here about that somewhere but I can't find it - maybe you'll have better luck, lol.

You can also run a couple of strips of black electrical tape across the flex watt where the tubs "feet" run across.
