How often do you need to feed them?

It depends on the species. Anywhere from once a week to a couple of days.
I've heard of all different schedules. As long as they eat their prey than their good. If you leave food items in with them the prey can accually kill the spider.
Some of our guys love mice but we only feed them ft pinkies on occasion
    Thanks

What species are handleable? I wouldn't want to keep an animal i couldn't take out for a little fun every now and then.

I don't think I will ever grow to like tarantula's, or better yet any arachnid...

ESPECIALLY after seeing Return of the King. :P Nice to look at though, I think. Some one's gotta like them:)

    Rose hair tarantulas are nice

I'll try to post a pic of one of ours.
they are easy to handle and care for. You don't want to handle them constantly as it does stress them. they'd rather be left alone, but ours take turns going to educational shows and they are doing great being handled every once in a while

I dont have arachnaphobia, but I just dont think I could get use to having one as a pet. It would be a great way to keep the ex out of the house though.

    Sure
My fiance's little brother has one. He holds him around the house, and I'm just like, "uhh ok". But if you think about it, people probably think the same thing about owning snakes. :|
