New Tarantulas
So, I finally got a couple T's.
I've always hated inverts, especially arachnids. So with my boyfriend being VERY into them, I've had to deal with them for the last two years. :)
He suggested to get over my irrational fear of spiders would be to get one myself. What an idea!
So after hours of searching and reading about various species I came up with Avicularia versicolor, and Brachypelma albiceps. These both just caught my eye. versicolor for obvious reasons of color and being arboreal and a tunnel webber is super fun. And albiceps for its rarety and unique color and easy keeping.
So I've had them for about a month now and they are doing awesome! Both are eating like champs, the albiceps has shed for me already, and the vericolor has an impressive 7 inch tunnel web spanning her enclosure.
I'm very happy with them, owning T's is awesome :) and I do seriously have a new found respect for inverts.
Both are sexed females.
Sorry for the crappy quality, these were taken on my phone since our digital camera took a crap on us :(

Thats one of the reasons I got some T's too. It has seriously helped my fear of other spiders. versicolors are very pretty thank you.

Yes they are arboreal, they are a little more "advanced" in T husbandry I've been told. They need high humidity but also great ventilation. So far its been smooth sailing for my T keeping. She hasnt eaten in a couple weeks but I think shes preparing a shed.
I would definietly recommend one.

Congrats! They look great:gj: I have a shipment due tomorrow that has two L. parahybana, G. pulchripes, and B. albopilosum. Can't wait to get them. I don't know why but it seemed natural to progress from snakes to tarantulas. I draw the line at centipedes though. They scare the bejeezus out of me!!!

Right? those darn snakes are a gateway pet to others I tell you!
G. pulchripes are very pretty. Going kinda big with the L. parahybana huh? I would love to get a Acanthoscurria geniculata, simple, but an 8" T is impressive I dont care who you are :)
I love new pet arrival days! Im excited for you!
Can we all expect pictures tomorrow in the inverts forum on here of your new T's? :gj:

They will be pretty little but I'll try to get good shots. I also have a G. rosea (red color form) and a C. cyaneopubescens. :)

Getting them as slings?
Thats fun too, you get to watch them grow. It can be hard to get them to survive though.
I like to buy proven females, then at least their well started and I know their lifespan will be long.
OOOH I love C. cyaneopubescens, it was that or A. versicolor for me.
With my two female T's I got two freebie slings a T. subcaeruleus and P. ornata. Cute little things, I like having slings and watching them grow. Tiny little molts. :)
