Feeding question
I have started feeding twice a week, instead of once a week. the pythons seem to have a better feeding response since i,ve started feeding more often.
When I was feeding once a week, I would often have trouble with them not eating, and sometimes going off feed for 2weeks at a time. Since I,ve started twice a week they have taken the meal everytime.
Is there any problem with feeding twice a week. it is a smaller food item.

I feed my young BP's every 4 days, I move them to an 8 day feeding schedule when they get to 500-600 grams

How many snakes and what are their ages and weights?
I think smaller meals, more often can be a good way to go. Especially if your snakes are responding well.

Re: Feeding question
If they're young, that should be just fine, as long as the meals aren't huge. If they're adults, I'd be hesitant. Adults have much slower metabolisms and such frequent feedings aren't a good idea. But on the other hand, I do agree with Slim; you've got to do what works. If they want more frequent feedings, that may very well be the best thing for them.

The only problem I see is your snake will gain weight and continue to eat more consistently, otherwise I see no problems :gj:

I personally feed all my younger snakes twice a week. They all seem to be doing great. All the food that I give them is small, some people would say it's way to small. I feel that more frequent smaller meals are much better for them.
I have also noticed that all my snakes seem to be more active a lot faster when feed smaller meals more frequently. They rarely have the period of time where they just sit there and digest. All are usually active by the next day. Also you can rarely ever tell that the snakes just ate, there isn't a lump in them.
I dot know what other people do but this seems to work great. As a bonus they all seem to put weight on a lot better with this method, and it is lean weight not fat.

They are young, not exactly sure on age, but id say around 8months somewhere,
and Unsure of there weight, cant find my scale at the moment.
thanks for the replies everyone, just wanted to make sure there were no health risks from feeding too much.

I read something, maybe here, that wasn't about ball pythons but another snake (very specific, I know). It was some kind of study on feeding patterns, though, and clearly showed higher appetite and consistency for the group that was fed slightly smaller meals more frequently. I think 7 days for adults would be the 'frequent' interval since some people wait 10-14 days to feed.

Re: Feeding question
I am curious of size and weight of your snakes? However, I would say if its working, stick with it! :)
