I am worried

I woke up this morning and relized my sons heater in his room was still on. Be sides the heat emmiter above fangs tank we use the space heater to keep gavins room warm which in turn helps keep fangs tank warm. With it gavins room heater on it has a warm side of 92 degrees and a cool side of 83-85 degrees in Fangs tank. Well his room was getting cold so I turned on my sons heater thinking I had turned the temp knob which controls the heat and shuts off before it gets hot. Well I feel asleep and woke up this morning around 5:30am and went to my sons room like I do every morning making sure that his tank did not get cold , well the heater was running all night and Fang had temps of warm 100 and cold 97 . I freaked out my son woke up and I started to spray fang and the enclosure to start a cooling him off , luckly I had a bottle there to keep humidity up because he is going through shed. He was half in his hide and half out my son opened his window I picked up fang off corse he was warm but breathing fine and acting ok although he was trying to get away from the heat. After his tank got back to normal temps and checking him I put him back in his tank and he went to his humid hide. Did I just give my sons snake brain damage is what I am worried about.:(

I am not sure how long they can handle higher ambient temps. Hopefully someone else will chime in here.

It doesn't sound like it was too hot for an extended period of time. Without seeing him, my guess would be that Fang should be OK. Just make sure he has plenty of fresh water. BPs are pretty resilient.

Did you have a water container in the tank which is large enough to soak his whole body in?
If so, there is no problem as the water temperature will give him enough possibility to lower the core body temperature to manage.
If not I suspect there is no problem as this has been a temporary situation.

Keep an eye out for problems regarding feeding and drinking, if these arise you might want to check with a vet. But I don't expect these issues.

Yes he has a water bowl big enogh to soak in and my guess is that the temps probly got above 95 around 1or 2 in the morning as I went to bed around 1030pm and when I turned it on his warm side was at 86degrees cool side 81.

Be sure to use a thermostat on the heater. This will keep stuff like this from happening again.

Apple this was my sons space heater I usaully have the thermastat thats on it set where his room does not get to hot and it keeps the enclosure for Fang regulated at the propper temps. Unfortuatley it was not set right this one time and this happened.

Fang's probably okay. Keep an eye on him, make sure he has plenty to drink. It'd be more worrying if his UTH had spiked but he should be okay with slightly higher ambients for a few hours. You can't tell me it's only ever 88-92 degrees in Africa and that BPs are never ever exposed to air temps that are warmer than that. So long as you've got the problem corrected, I think he's going to be just fine.

If there's any issues, take Fang to the vet but I doubt there will be. :)

I would say the chance that this temp spike caused any brain damage is very remote. As was mentioned, a spike in ambient temp is less of an issue than a spike in direct UTH heat.

If you can find no evidence that he got into his water bowl during the night, I would say he probably didn't get too hot.

Fang probably wonders what all the fuss was about this morning...

I'm sure if he is still moving fine and breathing normally he'll be okay like everyone says. Even if he did lose a few brain cells you don't have to be an Einstein to eat, drink, poop and slither ;)
