    My First Snake...
Been waiting 13 years to get my first snake. And throughout that wait there were only two types I was interested in. Corn snakes and Ball Pythons. With the support of a wonderful boyfriend now, I was free to finally get into the herp hobby. After a few geckos, I finally came across my dream snake. A lovely female Butter (het. Motley bonus) with some great size on her. Nice temperment, an adult ('06) and she was priced at exactly what I had saved up for. I just couldn't pass that up.

With some creative arrangements with a friend who was crossing provinces, she picked her up for me and I got to unpack her on Sunday night.

Amazing animal. I always knew I loved snakes. Owning one still feels so surreal. Letting her settle now, but I can't wait to get to know her as time goes on. Once she's a little calmer, I'll get a weight on her.

Breeder named her Allanah, which actually really suits her. But I might play with some names as I get to know her :giggle:

    Thanks guys!

She's got just the best temperment. Pulled her out last night for a closer inspection, now that she's settled, and she seemed almost disinterested at best, haha. Casually explored, very calm. She ended up chilling for the most part. Amazing girl.

She is a nice sized girl. I've seen some corns that are on the smaller side and I much prefer these bigger girls.

Too bad I'm not in a position to breed anytime soon. Ah well. She's been there, done that. Might just let her retire as a pet. Got lots of Corn snake breeders locally and many are working with various Butters. I'll just leave it to the professionals, and make them all jealous of my girl, haha:cool:
